Alfred Yaghobzadeh, a prominent Iranian photographer with an international reputation, is the special guest of the 43rd Fajr International Film Festival.
Yaghobzadeh is in Iran serving as a jury member for the Photo and Short Video Section of the festival. He is one of the most distinguished and influential war photographers both in Iran and worldwide, and is also recognized for his work in photojournalism and social documentary photography. His works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions across the globe.
During his time at the festival, Yaghobzadeh will not only evaluate the submitted works as a jury member but will also host an exhibition featuring approximately 47 photographs documenting wars around the world, including the eight-year Iran-Iraq War and the Gaza conflict. These works will be open to the public.
In addition, Yaghobzadeh will conduct a workshop titled “War Photography through the Lens of Alfred Yaghobzadeh” for photography enthusiasts, sharing his knowledge and experiences with the Iranian photography community.
Yaghobzadeh began his career during the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Through his lens, he has captured the human and political realities of war with remarkable narrative depth. His portfolio includes coverage of the Iran-Iraq War, crises in Lebanon, Afghanistan, Chechnya, and Palestine. Yaghobzadeh is also a recipient of the prestigious World Press Photo award.
The 43rd Fajr International Film Festival, directed by Seyed Rouhollah Hosseini, will take place in Shiraz from November 26 to December 3, 2025.
