FIFF: 10 Short Films to Compete in Eastern Vista

The 2021 Fajr International Film Festival has announced the names of 10 short films that are participating in the Eastern Vista category, Panorama of Films from Asian and Islamic Countries.

According to the Secretariat of the annual event, the feature films are as followed:

Abandoned Village

Georgia | 2020 | 14 min

Director: Mariam Kapanadze

Synopsis

Village, as a human being, is born out of love. Village, as a human being, is ruined, if left without love.

Anya

Azerbaijan | 2021 | 13 min

Director: Latif Latifsoy

Cast: Anya Viktorovna

Synopsis

The film presents episodes from the life of Anya Viktorovna and the depths of her world of dreams and thoughts. Anya, in her previous life, was a Russian language and literature teacher in a village.

Boars

Afghanistan | 2020 | 15 min

Director: Gholam Reza Jafari

Cast: Iman Nazifi, Shohre Mousavi, Ebrahim Haj Heydari

Synopsis

A man is married to a widow whose late husband died while abroad. Then the villagers tell him the guy is not dead and is back.

Child Welfare

Synopsis

Nantong Night

Synopsis

Jian works as an e-driver in Nantong, China, driving the cars of customers too drunk to drive home. One night, however, one of his passengers asks him to be taken to the police station.

The Red Mountain

Synopsis

To escape from the cruel reality of living in a boarding school, the boy students dream of a better place.

The 2021 FIFF is scheduled to get underway in the Iranian capital on May 26-June 2. This year’s event is presided over by Iranian film director and screenwriter Mohammad Mehdi Asgarpour. The festival is widely considered one of the most prestigious and influential in Asia, Europe and Greater Middle East.
