FIFF 2021 Olive Branches Lineup Announced

The Fajr International Film Festival has announced the full lineup of films for their 38th year of celebrating resistance cinema in the Olive Branches category from across the globe.

Full Lineup:

200 Meters

Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Sweden, Italy | 2020 | 96 min

Synopsis

Mustafa and his wife Salwa live 200 meters apart in villages separated by the wall. One day he gets a call every parent dreads: his son has had an accident.

Lebanon| 2019 | 93

Synopsis

Lebanon, July 2006. War is raging between Hezbollah and Israel. During a 24h ceasefire, Marwan heads out in search of his father who lives in Southern Lebanon. Marwan finds no traces of his father and the ceasefire is quickly broken, forcing him to take shelter in Najib’s house, his father’s friend. Suddenly, a group of Israeli soldiers enter the first floor. Trapped in their location as well as by their own fears, the next three days see the situation spiral out of control.

The documentary is about the family of a missing martyr whose brother is trying to identify and exhume one of the graves with similar characteristics.

Synopsis

Salma Keeps the promise she made to herself and decides to go on a two nights adventure in which she faces a lot of challenges and difficulties but she eventually reaches her goal.

Sky Road

Synopsis

Amjad, a rural young man, is marginalized within his surroundings after his marriage to Rama. He was hit by a mortar shell and lost his eyesight as a result of his inability to receive the necessary treatment due to the siege that the region is witnessing, to find the only safe haven being his wife. Later, this young man makes the decision
to migrate illegally with his wife to receive treatment.

Under the Concrete

Synopsis

Beirut, Lebanon. The city is riveted by a series of car bombs. Alain, bored with his job as a sales representative, decides to turn his back on life in this madness. Looking for a way out, he devotes himself to scuba diving and decides to break a new world record.

The 2021 FIFF is scheduled to get underway in the Iranian capital on May 26-June 2. This year’s event is presided over by Iranian film director and screenwriter Mohammad Mehdi Asgarpour. The festival is widely considered one of the most prestigious and influential in Asia, Europe and Greater Middle East.
