Future Frame and Broken Olive Branch at the 43rd FIFF

The 43rd Fajr International Film Festival in Shiraz features two competitive sections highlighting innovative cinema from around the world. Ten feature films are competing in the Future Frame section, while eight titles are being screened in the Broken Olive Branch category.

Future Frame, dedicated to supporting emerging voices, presents first and second feature films that bring fresh perspectives and inventive storytelling to the screen. This year’s lineup includes:
“Beyond the Rails” (Cenk İzgören, Turkey)
“Round 13” (Mohamed Ali Nahdi, Tunisia)
“Water Lilies” (Chanho Lee, South Korea)
“The Song Sustxotin” (Khusnora Rozmatova, Uzbekistan)
“I Will Come” (Bulat Sabitov, Russia)
“Riverstone” (Lalith Rathnayake, Sri Lanka)
“Wind, Talk to Me” (Stefan Djordjevic, Serbia/Slovenia/Croatia)
“Two Faces of Autumn” (Ronak Taher, Iran)
“Anywhere Anytime” (Milad Tangshir, Italy)
“Fish on the Hook” (Muhiddin Muzaffar, Iran/Tajikistan)

The Broken Olive Branch section celebrates films that explore resilience, resistance, and the human pursuit of peace. This year’s selections are:
“Bassima’s Womb” (Babek Aliassa, Canada)
“Valley of Exile” (Anna Fahr, Canada/Lebanon)
“Angels Don’t Die” (Mohammad Reza Abolhasani, Iran)
“From Ground Zero” (Rashid Masharawi, Occupied Palestinian Territory/France/Qatar/United Arab Emirates/Switzerland/Denmark)
“Palestine 36” (Annemarie Jacir, Palestine/United Kingdom/France/Denmark/Norway/Qatar/Saudi Arabia/Jordan)
“All That’s Left of You” (Cherien Dabis, Germany/Cyprus/Palestine/Jordan/Greece/Qatar/Saudi Arabia)
“A State of Passion” (Carol Mansour; Muna Khalidi, Lebanon/Occupied Palestinian Territory/Jordan/United Kingdom/Kuwait)
“Raseef Beirut” (Farah Alhashim, Lebanon/Palestine)

These two sections offer audiences a unique window into contemporary cinema, from new voices shaping the future of filmmaking to films that reflect the courage and resilience of humanity. The 43rd Fajr International Film Festival continues in Shiraz until 3 December 2025.
