Iranian cinema will shine at the 43rd Fajr International Film Festival, with eight films featured across the festival’s competitive sections from November 26 to December 3 in Shiraz. Representing diverse voices and cinematic approaches, these films will be featured across the festival’s competitive sections, including International Competition, Eastern Vista, Future Frame, The Broken Olive, and Festival of Festivals. These selections showcase the rich diversity of Iranian cinema, spanning a range of genres and storytelling styles.
In the International Competition, three films will compete:
- “He Doesn’t Sleep” – directed by Reza Jamali
- “A Time in Eternity” – directed by Mehdi Norowzian
- “The Bridge” – directed by Mohammad Asgari
Eastern Vista, featuring films from Asia, will include:
- “Calm Man” – directed by Behnoush Sadeghi
- “Fish on the Hook” – directed by Muhiddin Muzaffar (a co-production between Iran and Tajikistan)
The Future Frame section, dedicated to first and second films, will present:
- “Two Faces of Autumn” – directed by Ronak Taher
- “After Being in Love” – directed by Mohammad Ali Safooera
The documentary “Angels Don’t Die” – directed by Mohammad Reza Abolhasani – will be screened in The Broken Olive, a category honoring films that explore themes of resistance and resilience with courage and creativity.
Finally, “The Wasteman” – directed by Ahmad Bahrami – will be featured in the Festival of Festivals section.

The 43rd edition of the festival, directed by Rouhollah Hosseini, highlights the bond between poetry and poetic cinema, a defining feature of Iranian filmmaking and a unique hallmark of FIFF.
