“Parvin”, A Showcase of Intangible Cultural Heritage

The cinematic work “Parvin” depicts the Iranian cultural heritage, says the director of the movie Mohammad-Reza Varzi who has participated in the 42nd edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).
Commenting on the theme of the film “Parvin”, Varzi has said that Ezzatollah Zarghami, Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism had suggested working on Iranian cuisine and traditional handicrafts in the work.
“We chose Parvin Etesami, a contemporary Persian poet, as the theme of the movie as she is considered a prominent figure in the Iranian culture,” he underlined.
“A lot of locations like Cinema and Television Town (Ghazali) and some in suburbs of Tehran were used to produce the flick,” he said.
The filmmaker said that he desires to submit “Parvin” in the upcoming edition of the Venice Film Festival.
The cast list includes Azita Hajian, Mohammad-Reza Sharifinia, Maral Bani-Adam, Hossein Pakdel, Melika Sharifinia, Sam Nouri, Farzad Hassani and Ramin Nasser-Nassir.
The FIFF is a major film event, which is organized every year to celebrate the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Presided by Mojtaba Amini, the 42nd edition of Iran’s largest annual film festival will be held from February 1-11, 2024, in Tehran.
