The closing ceremony of the Talent Campus section of the 43rd Fajr International Film Festival was held on Monday, December 1, at Honar Shahr Aftab Cineplex in Shiraz. All students participating in this year’s Talent Campus attended the event, along with Iranian director, presenter, and screenwriter Iraj Tahmasb, who heads the program, and actors Soheil Mostajabian and Mazdak Mirabedini.
The ceremony opened with a performance by an international music group, playing Disney songs in both English and Spanish. Following the performance, a report on the students’ activities during the four-day course was presented. On the first day, 46 participants (26 international and 20 Iranian) were randomly assigned by mentor Victor Kislov from Russia into groups of four. Each group was tasked with creating a 60-second silent film with a poetic approach. All films were produced over the course of four days.
During the closing event, all student films were screened, and participants voted to select the best work. In the end, a group of four students was chosen as the winner and received the Talent Campus statue.
The ceremony continued with a performance of traditional Iranian music, followed by the presentation of certificates and gifts, including souvenirs from the city of Shiraz, to all students. Each student was called on stage to receive their certificate and gifts, and a group photo was taken with Tahmasb and other guests.
The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and students expressed their appreciation for the program’s activities, particularly the musical performances. The two mentors, Victor Kislov from Russia and Anita from Indonesia, were also honored with special statues. In total, three statues were awarded at the ceremony: one to the winning student group and two to the international mentors, all presented by Iraj Tahmasb.
The Talent Campus, also known as Darolfonoun, serves as a platform for discovering and nurturing emerging filmmakers. It encourages film students from Iran and around the world to take part in an intensive series of workshops and masterclasses, and promotes education and cross-cultural dialogue among young filmmakers from different countries.
